Will your car know you better? Google brings more personal AI assistance to the road
Google is bringing Gemini Personal Intelligence to cars. Discover what it can do, how connected apps work, and what drivers should know.

Imagine getting into your car and saying, “Take me to my appointment.” Instead of remembering the address, opening an email, or searching the map, your digital assistant attempts to find the details and suggest a route.
That’s the kind of experience Google wants to bring to the car. On October 20, the company announced that it was beginning to roll out Personal Intelligence for Gemini on Android Auto. The feature is designed to provide more tailored answers using information from Google apps the user has chosen to connect.
What could Gemini help with on the road?
The idea is simple: you don’t have to explain the whole story every time you ask a question. In Google’s examples, a driver could ask Gemini to find an appointment location saved in their calendar or navigate to a car wash they photographed earlier.
On the way to the airport, a driver could also ask about their flight gate and status. With the appropriate permissions, the assistant can use information from connected apps to help answer.
These are examples provided by Google. Results may depend on the feature’s availability, the device, and the user’s settings.
Android Auto and Google built-in: what’s the difference?
Android Auto displays compatible apps and services from your phone on the car’s screen. In a car with Google built-in, Google’s services are integrated into the vehicle’s system.
According to Google, the Personal Intelligence rollout began on Android Auto on October 20. Support for cars with Google built-in is planned for the following months.
What happens to personal information?
More personalized answers require more context. Google says Personal Intelligence can use information from services such as Gmail, Calendar, Photos, and Maps when users choose to enable the feature.
Google says it can be turned off in Gemini settings. If it is already enabled in the Gemini app on your phone, that setting may also carry over into the car. Before using it, it’s worth checking which apps are connected and what information you’re comfortable sharing.
Is it available in Armenia?
Google says the rollout is for eligible personal accounts belonging to users aged 18 and over, with some regional exceptions. The announcement does not separately confirm availability in Armenia or support for Armenian, so this should be checked on the individual account and device.
CarFix’s view
A voice assistant could be useful on the road, especially when you need an address or a detail from your plans. But convenience does not remove the driver’s responsibility: attention to traffic comes first, and AI answers can be wrong.
The update shows how the car’s screen is gradually becoming more than a place for maps and music.
